Mary Jane Iles -- wife of Ambrose Washington Brown. She was born 22 Jan 1848 in Mt. Vernon, Knox Co, OH. Her parents were George Washington Iles & Hannah Hair. After her mother died in 1855, her dad remarried to Mary Jane Ewalt and they moved to North Star around 1864. George was a skilled carpenter & reportedly built several of the homes in North Star. Mary Jane was reportedly a tiny woman of about 4' 10" and less than 100 pounds. She had dark eyes, hair & complexion. She smoked a corncob pipe all her life. She dies on 2 or 7 March 1906 and is buried with Ambrose in the North Star Cemetery. She & Ambrose had 7 kids, one of whom was my great grandfather...
